Moments of the Week – #12

A bunch of awesome moments from this week!

(have some of your own? to be featured in a future edition of MOW! :)

Quick stops in Eugene and Ashland, before I made my way by train to Los Angeles – here we go!

Lunch in Eugene at the Laughing Planet—got their Indian style bowl with sweet potatoes!

Hung out with someone very into Garfield! :) Her ringtone is the theme song to the show “” (is that stuck in your head now…? ;)

Cool jungle gym in Ashland, OR—kinda built like a ship’s masts/spider web, and this girl had no trouble scaling it!

Enjoying the short hike in Ashland—my expression is partly due to the balancing act I’m doing on a rock. And partly because I’m just a goof… :)

Michie on the walk. Ok, I’m outting her (she won’t mind)—she’s the Garfield fanatic! Hey, he’s an awesome cat!

Arrived to my host’s house in Ashland and what’s the first thing we do? Pick raspberries! I’m beginning to wonder if this is the official Oregon “act of hospitality.”

Came down to Ashland for one main reason: to round out the Henry trilogy at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival—saw Henry V, but before the show even started, enjoyed this ginormous flower on the way to my seat.

After a big dinner with my hosts and new friends, we played “Ticket to Ride,” where you attempt to build as many train lines as possible. I came in 2nd (not bad for first time!) and check out the super-awesome trans-continental green train line I built from Portland to Boston via Phoenix and New Orleans! I wonder if all my recent experiences on those routes gave me an advantage. ;)

Miles giving us a performance on his bass guitar; he just started playing in March, and this kid is good!! :)

Fun room I stayed in—love the Mona Lisa beads.

Back in California—hello Mt. Shasta! (View from the rideshare I took from Ashland to Santa Cruz.)

I had thought my train from San Jose-LA included WiFi, but I did find another virtual worker with her own 4G hotspot—score!! Actually, it was nice (and super productive) to be offline for several hours!

Sunset in SoCal. I’ve seen skies like this in Hawaii, Seattle, and other spots—they are always so surreal and breathtaking.

My re-introduction to Los Angeles: arriving at Hollywood and Highland, the epicenter of the craziness! Aaaaaaahhhhhhhhhh!

First meal in town: a “prop” from Mel’s Drive-In used in a Jimmy Kimmel Live shoot earlier that day. Yeah, this doesn’t happen anywhere else… :)

Relaxing on the 5th floor balcony of my brother’s apartment on a Friday afternoon in LA. Not often the view is this clear (cough, cough).

Reunited with my longtime LA hair-stylist Mirza at Casablanca (notice the pic on the wall?)! Went to her regularly for 5 years! Sadly, my hair wasn’t long enough to sit in the chair, but still nice to catch up with her! :)

Quite the haul from a Whole Foods run. No large bowls, so I used the giant cooking pot for a container – ha! And the “Hello—is it TEA you’re looking for?” Lionel Richie teapot is just priceless…
