Awesome Rebranding & T-minus Hawaii

It’s a new day. Truly.

Welcome to the first post under the new redesign & heading: Nonstop Awesomeness!

I’m really excited about what is to come under this new banner. I’ve been thinking lately about where I want to take this journey, and “Nonstop Awesomeness” definitely encapsulates many of the ideas.

I’ve added new content to the site, and have plans to add more, but here’s what’s up now:

  • What is Nonstop Awesomeness? – answering your burning question
  • Key Posts and About Nathan – a soon-to-be one-stop shop for “what” & “who”
  • My Hero-Friends – some of my favorite, creatively passionate people

As I say on the site, “Nonstop Awesomeness is all about consciously deciding to have an awesome time with whatever we’re doing.”

That is a world I am excited to live in and am excited to help create! I hope you join me.

More definitely to come…

Hawaii in Striking Distance

We are within a fortnight!

In two weeks, I will be in Hawaii. It might as well be Mars – I’ve never been there, and have no idea what to expect. All I know is that my life is going to look completely different from anything that has come before. (In truth, I know it already is that way. Each day is a completely new, beautiful opportunity – this is just a tad bit more extreme, ok? :-)

The place I’m a-headin’ (Polestar) is pretty fantastic. They recently restructured their already structured apprentice program, and it looks…well, amazing!

Check out this sweet flyer:

I really get to DO this!? :-)

Unbelievable, right? Feel free to join me (I actually wouldn’t be surprised to see you there). Just make sure you leave a tent for me!

In fact, my one-way ticket on Hawaiian Airlines only cost me FIVE BUCKS, thanks to a tip from The Art of Non-Conformity, involving: credit cards, gold coins, and almanacs. Ok, so that last item was just a nod to “Back to the Future II”…. As I learned more about travel hacking, I couldn’t believe how easy it was, as long as I was willing to spend some time. And for $5, I think my time is worth it!

It’s absolutely crazy to me that I, Nathan, have sold just about everything I have and am within two weeks of taking a one-way trip to Hawaii to have what I’m sure will be the time of my life! As Liz Lemon says, “What the what!”

Below is the current view of my place. It’s about to get much simpler, too. In life coming full circle, I’ll be “moving in” with my brother for my last days here in LA (he stayed with me for 3 months when he first got to the SoCal). Yup, as much as I tried to avoid it, I’ll finally be living in Hollywood…

it’s actually really comfortable – if only i had done this 5 years ago! :-)

A hero-friend (see above) recently asked me if all this purging is liberating. In a word: YES! It is amazing to see how little I truly need, and yet how much I have surrounded myself with over the years.

Lightening my life has not been without its trappings, though – there’s lots of emotional baggage (pun intended) with this stuff. Some of it is guilt in getting rid of gifts, etc – but what also paralyzed me at times was trying to make sure that every last item went to the perfect person. Selling your knick-knacks can be a full-time job, and at a point I realized, this is not why I’ve been put on this earth. I need to do the best I can, and trust that all of my items will find the right home. It was so gratifying to have a donation center come and pick-up 12 boxes this morning – I will NEVER see those items again, and I am ecstatic!

And shredding was SO much fun! Yes, I did scan anything that was important – but eliminating all these pieces of paper from my life was possibly the best part. If you only have time for one bit of purging in your life – make it this – you will feel so much better, I guarantee it!

Thanks for reading. I really appreciate it.

Here’s to a lifetime of Nonstop Awesomeness for all of us!
